Ms. Elham Hassan


Senior Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers [ Bahrain ]

Ms. Elham Hassan, a Bahraini national, is the Senior Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers and heads the Bahrain operations of that multinational accounting group. She commands an in-depth understanding of accounting and the financial services industries ¾ in particular, the fields of commercial, investment, and private banking as well as corporate finance.

Ms. Hassan is an acknowledged “financial-services guru” in the Middle East . She leads the audits of numerous local and multinational institutions, including commercial and investment banks, airlines, construction companies, and manufacturing firms. Ms. Hassan is also a respected authority on tax issues and mergers and acquisitions in Bahrain , Kuwait , Jordan and Yemen . She is a woman-pioneer in the accounting industry in this region and a respected expert in the financial industry.

 

 

H. H. Sheikha Hussa

H. H. Sheikha Hussa Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah [ Kuwait ]

A member of Kuwait 's royal family, Sheikha Hussa Al-Sabah chairs the “Kuwait Businesswomen Committee”, the “Arab African Women's Council”, and the “Arab Businesswomen's Council”. She is the Deputy Chairperson of the “Women Affairs Committee”. She also heads several non-government organizations in Kuwait focused on the prevention of alcoholism and drug addiction and as well as rehabilitation from substance abuse.

Sheika Hussa was named ‘Best Businesswoman' by the Middle East Conference of Distinguished Woman in March, 2002. She was also named “Best Female Arab Personality” in 2001 in recognition of her contributions to many campaigns to combat substance abuse. Sheikha Hussa is recognized throughout the Middle East for her civic as well as business leadership .

 

 

 

Dr. Shaikha Al Maskari

Chairperson, Tricon Group, Abu Dhabi [ United Arab Emirates ]

Dr. Shaikha Al Maskari is an Emirati national and the Chairperson heading Tricon, a conglomorate headquartered in the United Arab Emirates . Her professional career in the oil industry spans more than 14 years. In 1990, she joined the family business, Tricon Energy Operations. Under her leadership, Tricon achieved tremendous growth, evolving into the “Tricon Group” with 15 companies engaged in diverse businesses and offices in the UAE, U.S. , Singapore , South Africa and Turkey .

Dr. Shaikha Al Maskari is also the founder of the “Global Institute of Justice & Technology”, a group providing training in law enforcement and public security. She founded the “Global Paramedic And Rescue Academy”, which trains specialists in rescue techniques and public health services. In addition, Dr. Al Maskari is the founder of the “United Mercy Foundation”, a family charity which assists orphans and needy families throughout the Emirates, Oman , Turkey , Tanzania and India.

 

 

Ms. Afnan Rashid Al Zayani

President, Al Zayani Commercial Services [ Bahrain ]

Ms. Afnan Rashid Al Zayani, one of the leading businesswomen in the Kingdom of Bahrain , is the President of Al Zayani Commercial Services WLL., a group which was established in1980. She is also a Director and partner of Martinising Laundry and Dry Cleaners, and Director of the Al Ayam Printing and Publishing Company in Bahrain .

 

Ms. Al Zayani is a founder and senior officer of the “Bahrain Businessmen's Association”. She was President of that body between 2002-2004. Ms. Al-Zayani is also active in the “Bahraini-French Business Club”, the “Bahrain Businesswomen Committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry”, and the “Gulf Businesswomen Committee” of the Federation of G.C.C Chambers of Commerce.

Ms. Zayani is, additionally, an accomplished cook with several best-selling cookery books to her credit. She has hosted a number of TV cookery shows, and also has been the recipient of numerous civic and professional awards such as Bahrain 's “National Achievement Award” in 1992 and the “Best Business Professional In The Middle East Award” in 2004.
 

 

 

Dr. Nahed Taher

Senior Economist, National Commercial Bank [ Saudi Arabia ]

Dr. Nahed Taher, a Saudi national, is a Senior Economist with the National Commercial Bank in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia , a post she has held since 2002. Dr. Taher is responsible for setting Saudi and global macroeconomic indicators. She forecasts market trends and produces primary research on economic trends and investment opportunities.

In addition, Dr. Taher is a senior spokesperson on the Committee at her bank that sets risk criteria for corporate lending and investment limits for portfolio management. Between 1990 and 2001, Dr. Taher held senior positions at King Abdul-Aziz University , where she formerly headed the Department of Accounting and Political Science. In addition, she has served as a financial advisor and consultant to several private firms.

Dr.. Taher is an active participant in numerous civic and business committees. Among others, she is active in the “Economic Committee of Mecca Region Emirate”, the “Saudi- German Business Committee”, the Board of the “ Mecca Region Strategic Studies Center ”, and the “Saudi Chamber of Commerce's Businesswomen Committee”.

 

 

 

Dr. Fatima Mohamed Yousif Al-Balooshi :

Dean, College of Education , University of Bahrain [ Bahrain ]

Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi, also a Bahraini national, is Dean of the College of Education of the University of Bahrain . She has had a distinguished career in academia for over 19 years. She received the “Excellence of Achievement Award” in 1992 from H.H. the Late Emir of Bahrain. She is also the author of numerous papers and publications in the fields of technology, computer science, and education.

Dr. Al Baloochi has been an active member of the “Bahraini Society for Childhood Development”, a founding member of the “Bahraini Society for Creativity” and a founding and Board member of the “Bahraini Society for Women's Development”. She was recently appointed to the ICT Committee of Bahrain's Economic Development Board by H. H. the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain .

In addition, Dr. Al-Balooshi has been a featured speaker on several television and radio programmes in Bahrain as well as other countries in the Middle East . She is a recognized expert in the field of technology and higher education.

 

 

 

Dr. Mona Rashid Al Zayani

Chairperson, Gulf University [ Bahrain ]

Dr. Mona Rashid Al Zayani, a Bahraini national, heads Gulf University in Bahrain and is a former member of the Kingdom's Al Shoura Consultative Council. She is an authority in the field of higher education in the Gulf region. Dr. Al Zayani sits on the Board of the College of Education , University of Bahrain . She is also the President and founder of Berlitz International in Bahrain, the founder and President of the Al-Hekma International Model School, the founder of the Bahrain Reading and Computer Center, and the former Pr esident of Registration and Students Affairs for the Arabian Gulf University.

Dr. Al Zayani has been active in a number of overseas organizations as well, such as the Dean's Committee of the John F. Kennedy School of Harvard University. She has participated in numerous seminars, conferences and workshops focused on education in general, special education, and civic service.
